About David E. Navarro





David Eric (D.E.) Navarro is an American author, poet, essayist, editor. He is also a clinical research medical writer and copy editor as well as a biblical research scholar and teacher.
He holds a B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies with Purdue University, and has degrees in Communications and Theology.


Born in Newport R.I. in 1962, he moved to Chicago, Illinois by 1964. At ten years old, his family moved to rural Crown Point, Indiana where he was free to enjoy nature. In 1977 he moved to the suburbs of Munster, Indiana and after a few years went off to college at Purdue University in Lafayette, Indiana to study English and the writing arts.


He left college to enlist in the United States Air Force where he served ten years and in three conflicts. His first tour of duty was McChord AFB in Tacoma, Washington, his second was RAF Alconbury in the United Kingdom where he was part of the Air Raid on Tripoli and completed a degree in Communications and Leadership. His third tour was at Patrick AFB in Satellite Beach, Florida from there he was part of the Invasion of Panama and the First Gulf War.


He separated with an honorable discharge and entered a biblical studies program where he completed a degree in Theology with focus on biblical languages, texts, and translations. He recently returned to school with Purdue University and completed a bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies graduating summa cum laude.


In addition to being an author, poet, and professional freelance writer/editor, he's held a number of professional positions (extended or contract) locally and with global companies.

He is Founder of NavWorks Press and originator of several online writing forums. He also did a series of in-person poetry workshops for the public library system in Tuscaloosa, Alabama from 2007-2010.
